Poland: Human rights activists call EU to facilitate reception of refugees at Belarus border

Volunteers from several humanitarian groups gathered in the woods near the safety zone at the Polish-Belarusian border on Friday, near the bordering village of Sokolka.

The activists, including Polish MP Magdalena Biejat from the left-wing Razem Party, were demanding the EU and Poland increase their pressure on the Belarusian government and facilitate an asylum process for refugees.

Iwo Los, volunteer from NGO Grupa Granica, expressed his concern at the health conditions of people stranded in the woods and highlighted the role played by residents in supporting the refugees.
