Romania: NATO's Stoltenberg warns of 'full fledged invasion' by Russia at Ukrainian border

NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg gave a statement at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Military Base on Friday with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on the recent developments on the Ukrainian border with Russia.

“There is a risk for a full fledged invasion, but there’s also a risk for other types of aggressive actions, including attempts to topple the government in Kiev, hybrid cyber attacks and many other types of Russian aggression,” said Stoltenberg.

He also said that “security in this region is of utmost importance to NATO” and that “NATO will not compromise on core principles.”

Russia has denied claims it is amassing troops on the border with the intention of invading Ukraine.

Stoltenberg’s visit comes amid the ongoing deployment of 1,000 additional US troops to the Mihail Kogalniceanu Military Base.
