Muscovites returned to work on Monday after the Russian capital’s partial lockdown aimed at halting the spread of the coronavirus came to an end.

Businesses such as shops, restaurants, beauty salons, and gyms opened their doors again after the 11-day non-working period from October 28 and November 7.

According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, while the businesses reopen on Monday, other restrictions, such as the requirement that companies have at least 30 percent of their staff work from home, would remain in place.

Some Russian regions have also extended the non-working period and other restrictions, including the implementation of digital passes showing proof of vaccination or COVID-19 recovery.

According to Russia’s coronavirus taskforce, the country recorded 39,400 new infections and 1,190 COVID-19 related deaths on Monday.
