Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi in Moscow on Wednesday.

Putin highlighted the importance of knowing Tehran’s position on the Iranian nuclear program within the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Leaders also hailed their bilateral ties and expressed their readiness to continue cooperation.

“We cooperate very closely in the international arena. I do even not mention the fact that largely thanks to our [Russian] efforts, we managed to help the Syrian government overcome the threats of international terrorism,” the Russian leader said.

In his turn, Raisi said that Iran will “never stop progress and development” due to Western sanctions.

“We have been confronting the USA for more than 40 years… We are making efforts to ensure that the sanctions are lifted,” he added.

According to the Iranian leader, Tehran and Moscow can create “synergy in the interaction” to resist the “unilateral actions of the West”.
