The Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma continued to erupt with no signs of easing, with lava streams flowing from the fracture of its cone and columns of smoke rising above the area, Monday.
Scientists have been closely monitoring the volcano since it erupted on September 19th for the first time in 50 years. Since then, the lava has ravaged more than 850 hectares and destroyed more than 2,200 buildings, in addition to triggering the evacuation of more than 7,000 people.
