Spain: La Palma eruption continues to spew smoke, ash

The Cumbre Vieja volcano eruption continued on La Palma, in Spain’s Canary Islands on Sunday, marking three weeks since the start of the eruption which started on September 19.
According to local reports, 80 million cubic metres of magma have been expelled from the volcano since its eruption on September 19, causing the evacuation of almost 6,000 people and leaving 981 damaged buildings.
It is feared that the contact of the lava with the salty seawater could lead to toxic gases mixed with hydrochloric acid being formed.
