State of Palestine: Fatah marks 57th anniv with rally in Gaza

Thousands of supporters of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement held a huge rally in Gaza City marking the party’s 57th anniversary, on Friday.

Several leaders of Fatah also participated in the rally that took place in Omar Al-Mukhtar Street, in east of the city.

“This message, which is renewed from Gaza to all parts of the world, is a message that our Palestinian people are alive, residing and continuing their struggle until the establishment of our Palestinian state on our Palestinian land occupied by the Israeli occupation,” said one of the leaders in the Fatah movement.

Fatah supporters celebrated the anniversary by waving yellow flags of the movement, which was founded by Yasser Arafat, who devoted his life to the Palestinian liberation struggle, on 1 January, 1965.

SOT, Azzam Sha’at, Leader in the Fatah movement (Arabic): “The sons of the reformist movement in the Fatah movement affirm today their Fatahism and their earnest call for reforming the Fatah movement from within and in order to close the differences and complete the internal Palestinian interest, so that this new year will be the year of Fatah and a year. National Unity and the Year of Loyalty to the Martyrs and Prisoners.”

SOT, Hatem Abu Al-Hussein, Leader in the Fatah movement (Arabic): “We renew the covenant with the Palestinian leadership, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, we say to our people Happy New Year on the anniversary of the launch of the 57th, and we say all the greetings to you. You came today from all areas of the Gaza Strip, crawling on foot, especially the northern Gaza Strip. A message to everyone near and far that Fatah is the leader of the national project.”
