The head of Sudan’s armed forces, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, received the ambassadors of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Norway, known as the Troika, in Khartoum on Tuesday.
“We discussed our strong desire to see Sudan’s democratic transition back on its right track. We warned against unilateral action. We underscored the need for restoration of the Constitutional Document, and of Prime Minister Hamdok to office,” said a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the US embassy in Khartoum.
The meeting came as the country has been in political crisis since October 25, following al-Burhan’s announcement of the dissolution of the government and the Sovereign Council, as well as the suspension of some provisions of the constitutional document, and the declaration of a state of emergency.
