Several thousand anti-government demonstrators protested against the October military coup and subsequent deal that has seen reinstated Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok in Khartoum.
Protesters marched through the city carrying flags and banners and voicing their demands on Monday.
On 25 October 2021, a military junta in Sudan staged a military coup and dissolved the Sovereign Council and the government. A state of emergency was declared as Hamdok was imprisoned, along with several ministers and civilian political leaders. Due to an agreement with the coup plotters, however, Hamdok has returned to his post.
Elections have been promised for 2023.
