At least eight people were killed, and dozens more wounded, in a rocket attack in the northern city of al-Bab, on Wednesday.

“The attack targeted residential and commercial neighborhoods, which are usually crowded with shoppers and civilians at this time of the day,” said a local resident.

Footage from the site shows blood-soaked streets, where scores of people had gathered to oversee or lend a hand in the rescue and clean-up operations.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

SOT, Local resident (Arabic): “The city of al-Bab came under rocket attack from both the [Syrian] regime and PKK gangs. The attack targeted residential areas and commercial districts that are usually crowded with shoppers and civilians at this time of the day. This sinister and cowardly attack left substantial material damage in building, killed more than 8 people and injured nearly 40 others, including children and women. Unfortunately, the Syrian Democratic Forces haven’t had enough if their crimes in Geweran neighbourhood in al-Hasakah when they displaced the locals. The regime also was not satisfied with massacring the Syrian people for 10 years.”
