Several weapons were surrendered by dozens of local residents and former anti-government militants at an amnesty point in Daraa on Monday.

Weapons surrendered at an amnesty point included assault rifles, grenade launchers, and anti-tank rocket launchers.

Negotiations between the Syrian government and the militants have been ongoing over the past weeks with the help of Russian mediators.

The amnesty, a truce condition, is in place as an attempt to de-militarise the contested Daraa al-Balad neighbourhood.

The city has been under siege by Syrian government forces for over two months, with a recent truce collapsing on Friday and renegotiations achieving a settlement on Sunday.
