Turkey: Oren evacuated as wildfires intensify

People in the village of Oren were seen evacuating on Wednesday evening as wildfires continued to spread.

Wildfires engulfed the local hillside and were approaching a local power plant, located in nearby Milas, in the evening.

Earlier in the day, fire crews had been battling the flames with the use of helicopters, unable to bring them under control.

The wildfires have forced evacuations along the country’s southern coast.

The death toll from the fires has climbed to eight after the bodies of a Turkish-German couple were found in their burnt home in the Antalya Province.
