The Kiev Court of Appeal left in force the restrictive measure of personal obligations for former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Friday.

Thus, the appeals of the prosecutor’s office and the defence were not satisfied. The established restrictive measures remain in force until March 19.

“Friends, the first thing I want to say is: thank you very much for not letting the arbitrariness happen. This is not a victory, but certainly not a defeat. This is a battle where we have defended our positions,” Poroshenko said after the court ruling was announced.

Poroshenko faces treason charges over his alleged involvement in financing separatist fighters in eastern Ukraine via the illegal sale of coal during his time in office. The ex-president says the charges are politically motivated.
