US reaction to Russia's demands on indivisible security 'negative' - Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described the US reaction to Russia’s key demand on the implementation of the agreements on indivisible security as ‘negative,’ following a telephone conversation with US State Secretary Anthony Blinken on Tuesday.

“As for the the key issue which basically prompted us to turn to the United States and NATO with the initiative, the reaction was negative. I mean our demands that everybody fulfil in good faith the agreements on indivisible security, reached within the framework of OSCE in 1999 in Istanbul as well as in 2010 in Astana,” stated Lavrov.

Last month, Russia’s Foreign Ministry published draft security proposals between Moscow and Washington on ensuring the security of Russia and NATO member states. Consultations on these issues were held in January in Geneva, Brussels, and Vienna.

Earlier on Wednesday, US Ambassador John Sullivan delivered Washington’s written responses to security assurance proposals to Moscow.
