USA: NYC opens free testing sites to curb surge in COVID cases

Five more free COVID testing sites opened in New York City on Thursday. The new sites welcomed people across the city including one at Penn Station in West End Concourse.
People could be seen queueing outside to register to be tested in the booths.
In order to meet the increasing demands in the midst of a flood of COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant, the state of New York decided to open additional locations this week.
The test sites are located at some of the city’s busiest transport hubs and offer walk-ins without an appointment.
