Oregon’s firefighters and emergency incident responders continued to battle Oregon’s Bootleg Fire on Tuesday in the Fremont-Winema National Forest.

The fire continues to actively burn in the vicinity of the town of Sprague River, with the Log and Bootleg Fires having merged on Monday, bringing the amount of burned land up to 388,359 acres (1572 square kilometres) as of the official update issued by the authorities on Tuesday.

2,250 personnel are involved in the incident response operation, with 30% of the wildfire perimeter contained to-date.

Affected areas remain sealed off from public access, with Level 2 and 3 evacuations taking place.

The Bootleg Fire has been burning for over two weeks, having begun in the afternoon of July 6.
