Russia is preparing ‘fabricated attacks’ to ‘justify military aggression against Ukraine,’ US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said during a press conference in Washington, DC on Wednesday.
“We can say that the United States has information that Russia is planning to stage fabricated attacks by Ukrainian military or intelligence forces as a pretext for a further invasion of Ukraine,” Price said in his initial statement, calling it a ‘fake pretext.’
In recent weeks, Russia has denied accusations that it is gathering forces at the border to invade Ukraine amid diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
