Residents of Kodiak, Alaska, woke up to the sound of tsunami warning sirens on Thursday morning after an 8.2 magnitude earthquake took place overnight in the Gulf of Alaska.
Residents were seen driving to higher ground in the event of a tsunami, though the warning was cancelled after waves of less than one foot (30 cm) arrived onshore.
The earthquake was the most powerful in Alaska since 1965. No damage has been reported.
