Vaccination centres in Germany’s Saxony are are struggling to keep up with the demand for the COVID jab.

Saxony has been labelled a coronavirus hotspot, as it is experiencing skyrocketing infection numbers and rising hospitalisations.

Germany reported record number of 65,371 daily cases on Wednesday.

Parliament approved the new Infection Protection Act on Thursday, paving the way for further measures to curb the surge of infections and encourage more people to get vaccinated.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said a quick reaction to the ‘highly dramatic’ situation was needed.
