The ruins of Beirut Port’s northern block of silos have collapsed, two years after the explosion that reduced much of the area to rubble.

The 50-year-old, 48m-tall silos were left standing after the blast, which killed over 200 people and injured more than 6,000.

Plans to demolish the silos were met with protests from families of the blast’s victims and survivors, who say they may contain useful evidence for the judicial probe.
