Australia: Arrests in Melbourne at protest against COVID vax mandates

Arrests were made in Melbourne where hundreds of protesters gathered on Saturday in opposition to the mandatory vaccines and the ongoing lockdown.

Police rushed the group, wrestling a few protesters to the ground and arresting other individuals as the crowd scattered.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Friday that all authorised workers unless working from home must take the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of October.

The state of Victoria recorded 1,488 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths in the 24 hours to Saturday morning, the highest daily increase since the pandemic started.
