Belarus: Russian, Belarusian troops conduct weapons training with armoured vehicles near Brest

Units of the Eastern Military District and troops from the armed forces of Belarus conducted firing exercises at the Brestsky training ground, near Brest, on Monday. The exercises were reported by the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, the allied forces worked on tasks aimed at repelling a mock enemy, who tried to break in and take advantageous positions with the support of lightly-armoured vehicles.
The MoD added that almost all military districts, as well as fleets and airborne troops, are currently taking part in large-scale operational training events.

Combat training activities are being carried out in accordance ‘Allied Resolve 2022’ plan of joint exercises with Belarus, and will last until February 20.

The troops are practicing to suppress external aggression and terrorism by blocking channels for the delivery of weapons and ammunition, as well as destroying illegal armed formations and sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

A live-firing stage will later be held at the Obuz-Lesnovsky training ground on February 19. During this event, Russian marines, together with formations and military units of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus, will conduct a mock-defensive battle and perform additional manoeuvres.
