Charred vehicles, broken pipes outside Kemerkoy power plant after wildfire prompts evacuations

The Kemerkoy thermal power plant in the Turkish city of Mugla was evacuated overnight as a wildfire closed in. Footage from Thursday shows damage outside the plant after the blaze.

Burned vehicles and broken pipes can be seen in the charred gardens around the facility, which seems to have sustained some damage before the fire was contained.

Fire crews have been battling the flames with the use of helicopters as wildfires have been devastating the Turkish coast on the Aegean Sea in recent days. The death toll from the fires climbed to eight on Sunday after the bodies of a Turkish-German couple were found in their burnt home in Manavgat, Antalya Province.
