China: Testing ramps up in Lanzhou amidst spike in COVID cases

Lanzhou residents were seen queuing up to get tested following a recent spike in coronavirus infections on Sunday, prompting authorities to conduct a city-wide testing campaign to try and counter the spread.
Authorities recorded five new positive cases of the Delta variant on Saturday. As a result, restrictions were tightened in a bid to contain a further spread of the virus in the Gansu province capital.
Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the country has recorded an estimated 109,062 confirmed cases and 4,849 deaths, according to official statistics.​
