Egypt: Sisi discusses regional issues with Bennett during first visit to country

Egyptian President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi met with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, discussing a range of regional issues.

The two leaders talked about reviving the peace process between Israel and Palestine and the reconstruction efforts in the Palestinian territories, as long as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

“There is a common understanding between us regarding the issue of the Dam. I told [the Israeli PM] that we are trying to solve the issue by negotiations and dialogue in order to reach an agreement; and this is very important for us, it is a matter of life or death,” he said.

The meeting took place during the first visit by an Israeli prime minister to Egypt in 10 years, and the first for Bennett to an Arab country since he assumed office.
