Germany: Long queues outside Munich vaccination centres as residents evaluate Soder"s COVID response

Munich residents expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state of Bavaria as Minister-President Markus Soder announced new restrictions after attending a state and federal government COVID-19 summit on Tuesday.
While people were queueing outside of newly reopened vaccination centres, residents and visitors in the Bavarian capital reflected on Soder’s pandemic politics.
“He should finally do something and not just announce it. He could have done something a long time ago,” said Munich local Egon.
“The possibilities are there, but he doesn’t. He always blames everything on the federal government, but he doesn’t do it himself,” he added.
After attending the emergency COVID-19 summit, Soder revealed the measures the federal government and states agreed on in a press conference and announced even stricter measures for Bavaria, which is currently fighting several hotspot areas. Among the measures is an implementation of the 2G rule, meaning only those vaccinated or recovered can access exterior gastronomy and football games without spectators.
