A witness and survivor has testified at the trial of the 96-year-old accused to being a secretary in a Nazi concentration camp, in Itzehoe on Tuesday.

Josef Salomonovic described the horror that occurred in the concentration camp in September 1944, after his family was deported.

The trial is expected to continue on December 14, with a testimony provided by a witness in the US via videolink.

Irmgard F. is accused of being complicit in the deaths of 11,000 at the Stutthof camp in Poland. She was a secretary at the camp and a juvenile at the time. Due to her age at the time of the offense, the court hearing is being held in juvenile court.

Stutthof was notorious for the completely inadequate care of the prisoners, a situation deliberately created by the SS. Most of the prisoners died of disease and exhaustion and torture, and from inhumane forced labour. In addition, there was a gas chamber and a camouflaged neck-shooting facility for targeted mass killings.
