The Korean Cultural Centre in Wheeling, Chicago, held a promotional ‘Squid Game’ event on Saturday, allowing 120 participants to immerse themselves in the games played during the show.

Attendees could be seen partaking in the series’ ‘Red Light, Green Light’ game, playing tug of war with each other, and delicately cutting out shapes from pieces of the Korean dalgona candy.

According to the cultural centre, the event ran for a total of 2 and a half hours, with the participants being divided into 20 groups for the activities.

The Korean dystopian survival show has been a big hit on the streaming service Netflix and is the platform’s most successful show of all time.

In the show, 456 cash-strapped people gamble their lives in a deadly competition made out of children’s games to win a massive cash prize.

After its release, fans around the world started to organise their own real-life versions of the games without the deadly elimination penalties.
