Peru: Supporters and protestors of Pedro Castillo hit the streets of Lima

Supporters and protestors of Peruvian President Pedro Castillo’s government took to the streets of Lima on Thursday, voicing their position regarding Congress’s approval of the new Cabinet.
Protestors of the left-wing President expressed criticism regarding the new Cabinet.
“The truth is that we are tired of them changing cabinets, changing ministers, and each time every new minister is more questionable, each Cabinet is more unpresentable. What we now want is the vacancy of Pedro Castillo, who is a president who got this far with fraud,” explained Jose Rojas.
The Congress debate lingered since last Monday but was interrupted by the sudden death of a congressman. Castillo’s first Cabinet was removed in early October when clashes erupted between the government and Congress after former Prime Minister Guido Bellido was pressured to nationalise gas resources.
Supporters of Castillo’s government were against the vacancy, demanding that the new president be left to rule without interruptions.
“They have not made a law that favours the people, the proletariat, the working people. They are not drafting a law, and they are damaging and hindering the governance of President Pedro Castillo, said Castillo supporter Jose Luis Collazos.

SOT, Diana Castillo, Castillo supporter (Spanish): “We are at this march to show support to President Pedro Castillo because this Congress does not represent us on behalf of all Peruvians. There is a tremendous mafia here in Congress that want to vacate the president, but they don’t know why they want to remove him. First, there are the big ‘caviars’ there. They are the big thieves and corrupt at a national level, they are entrenched and engrossed, and they do not want to leave power. They don’t want this government to start functioning and let Peru be governed as it really should.”
