Police used tear gas to disperse hundreds of protesters rallying in Khartoum on Saturday amid rumours of a possible resignation of the Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.

The news came just a month after Hamdok shifted from sharing power with the Sudanese military to civilian rule, following heavy citizen pressure and protests.

Demonstrators returned to the streets fearing Hamdok’s potential resignation would lead to a return of military rule in the African country.
