Russia 'won't allow endless negotiations' - Lavrov

Russia should continue on a diplomatic path to ease tensions in Europe but won’t allow endless negotiations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday.

“We have already warned more than once, you as well as other representatives of the Russian Federation, that we won’t allow endless negotiations on questions that demand a solution today,” said Lavrov.

The minister added he still believed diplomacy was the way to ease tensions. “I believe our possibilities
are far from being exhausted. Certainly, they should
not continue infinitely, but at this stage, I would suggest continuing and building them up,” he said.

The West has voiced fears that Russia could be planning an invasion of its western neighbour Ukraine.

Russia has denied any plans to invade Ukraine despite concentrating some 100,000 troops near the Ukrainian border and has been seeking security guarantees from NATO and the West to de-escalate the situation.
