The Cumbre Vieja volcano ceased all activity on Tuesday. For the first time in 86 days no lava emissions or explosions were recorded on the island of La Palma.

Images filmed on Wednesday by the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands show the cone of the quietened volcano.

According to local reports, experts consider it ‘improbable’ that the volcano will resume its activity, although they do not rule it out completely.
