Spain: La Palma volcano spews streams of lava as eruption continues

Cumbre Vieja volcano continued to erupt on La Palma, in Spain’s Canary Islands, on Sunday night, marking three weeks since the start of the eruption on September 19.
According to local reports, 80 million cubic metres of magma have been expelled from the volcano since its eruption on September 19, causing the evacuation of almost 6,000 people and leaving 981 damaged buildings.
Experts fear that the contact of the lava with the salty seawater could lead to toxic gases mixed with hydrochloric acid being formed.
