State of Palestine: Tear gas flies in anti-settlement protest in Beita

Tear gas was deployed by Israeli forces as Palestinians protested against the settlements in Beita in the Nablus governorate in the northern West Bank on Friday.

According to reports from the local Red Crescent, 34 people were injured as Israeli forces deployed tear gas, sound bombs and rubber bullets against the protesters.

“We are dealing with gas injuries, and of course there are injuries among paramedic volunteers. One of the paramedics was hit in the foot by a tear gas canister,” said Paramedic Jalil Kaladino.

Protesters lit tyres on fire and used slingshots to throw stones and return tear gas canisters that were fired at them.

“It is necessary to confront the Israeli occupation so that it is known that the people of the Beita area do not surrender under any circumstances,” said protester Agheb Al-Jaghoub.

The towns of Beita and Jabal Sabih are currently witnessing continuous confrontations between the Israeli army and Palestinian activists fighting the construction of Israeli settlements in the area.
