Thousands of anti-military protesters took to the streets of Khartoum on Thursday and were met by tear gas.
According to local sources, three people were killed in the rally on Thursday as a result of clashes with security forces.
Protesters gathered around self-erected barricades and dodged tear gas shells fired by security forces.
The protesters could also be seen marching while carrying Sudanese flags.
The resignation of head of government Abdullah Hamdok on Sunday evening had further fuelled the protests against the military government.
General al-Burhan had reinstated Hamdok one month after taking power.
