After the fallout caused by the Indo-Pacific trilateral security Aukus pact over the development of nuclear-powered submarines by the US and UK for Australia, US President Joe Biden is now seeking to hold a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in the coming days.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced the news in a briefing in Washington DC on Monday.
“What I expect the President will do on that call is reaffirm our commitment to working with one of our oldest and closest partners on a range of challenges that the global community is facing,” noted Psaki.
France has blasted Aukus as it means that Australia will now end the contract agreed with France to build 12 diesel electric-powered submarines.
