USA: Bootleg Fire ravages large areas of southern Oregon

The massive Bootleg Fire has left swaths of destruction in its wake in southern Oregon, as seen in footage from Sunday.

Burnt-out vehicles are seen situated on scorched ground surrounded by burnt forested area. The situation has affected over 400,000 acres of land and forced thousands to evacuate their homes.

Local resident Sayyid said he had lost practically everything as a result of the blaze.

“There’s nothing left. The only thing left is the wood burning stove and there was one cast iron pan. There are cups that were burned and now they’re shattered. There are nails that I may not be able to use again because of the heat,” he said.

Oregon’s Bootleg Fire is the largest wildfire active in the US at the moment. Firefighters are struggling to battle the blaze which is being fueled by dry conditions. Hundreds of properties have been destroyed in the fire but there are no reports of fatalities.
