USA: Drone footage reveals Phoenix roads blocked following police shootout

Drone footage recorded on Friday captured the scene of the Phoenix police shootout being cordoned off, after an investigation was underway.

Nine officers were injured earlier in the day, during what police have described as an “ambush.”

Officers were originally to a house where a baby had been placed outside the door. Five police officers were subsequently shot and four other officers were injured by flying bullets and shrapnel during the incident.

The baby was rescued unharmed, police have said. The perpetrator, who police suspect was the father of the baby, remained barricaded for several hours and was later found dead inside the house.

A woman, who police believe was the former girlfriend and mother of the baby, was also found injured in the house, before dying later on Friday afternoon.
